What is Banner?

Seattle Pacific University uses a software called Banner to give you access to financial aid information, registering for classes, checking degree completion status, and more. This module will explain how to use the student menu and personal menu to view financial aid, register for classes, check degree information, pay online, and add an emergency contact.

How do I access Banner?

To get to banner you can:

1. Go to SPU Online Services at https://web-apps.spu.edu/apps then click on a Banner

2. or go directly to banner through at spu.edu/banweb

How do I register for classes?

To register for classes or adjust your schedule, click on “Student Menu”, then go to “Registration and Class Schedules Menu” and click on “Class Registration and Planning”. This is your hub for registration.

To create plans for future quarters to speed up registration use the “Plan Ahead” feature.

To learn your registration time slot, click on “Prepare for Registration.”

To register click on “Register for Classes.” Select your current term.

To add a class, search for it and click the add button beside the class you would like to register for.

To drop/remove a class, in the summary section under the action column choose none and select Drop via web.

How do I view the progress I've made toward my degree?

UG Degree Check is a great resource to ensure you are taking the required classes for your major.

To access it click on “Student Menu”, then go to “Academic Records”, from there click on “UG Degree Check”. Here you can see your current majors and drop or add one. You can also add a minor from this menu.

From this first page, by scrolling down you can see your general education requirements. At the top of the page, there are four options, click on “Major/Minor Requirements”.

Select your admit term, listed beside your major in the top right box.

Then select your major. Here you can find all the classes that you need to take to graduate with your major (not including GEN EDS).
